Installation:

1. Extract and run.

For Android:

The game is split into chapters for Android because of the 2gb limit. Only one can be installed at the same time, but save games are compatible between chapters.

!!!FOR MAC!!! If you get the “The app HailDicktator is damaged and can’t be run.” error, there is the following workaround, until I can find another way to fix it:

1. After downloading the game. Extract the app using “The Unarchiver” (the default unzip program of mac might mess up permissions)

2. Open Terminal. (go to Applications -> Utils -> Terminal)

3. Type “xattr -cr Downloads/HailDicktator_x.x.x_macOS/HailDicktator.app” (without quotes. Replace _x.x.x with the name of the folder, you can also use tab to autocomplete)

4. Press enter, and there shouldn’t be any error or other message. After that, you can play the game as normal.

* Engine update to latest 2021.3 LTS: This was mostly to fix a nasty bug I was having that would cause a 40 second waiting time for every scene I was changing a scene (even as little as changing some dialog. I tried everything including turning off windows defender but nothing helped.). In the process I was able to update a few other 3rd party plugins like Odin. It was time consuming to update, but should save time in the long run by being able to use new optimization and features and being future-proof. However, also because of this, the google translate lib broke, so I had to implement an alternative last second (still google translate but without their bloated platform dependent libs that have a million dependencies). Finding an alternative was frustrating, but it’s relieving not having to rely on closed code in a ton of libs. Again, this will mainly speed up further development, but shouldn’t have any impact on the game itself.
