Story:
Regarding quests, Apoc and the Lake Village had lots of their quests iterated. The main goal was to strengthen the character motivation for complex quests like ‘Market Rivalry’ and ‘Kumaan’s Spear’, while also making them feel less convoluted and have better player guidance. Also, several Lake Village side quests have been integrated into the main quest to make sure the player has a main quest marker at all times.
Combat:
While the combat is progressing quite well behind the scenes, we would rather polish it some more before showing it to you. We have also decided it would be best to release the combat together in one package with the actual enemies placed on the worldmap, rather than in a separate greybox test level as before, so as to make for a bigger, more complete content update at a later date.
Level:
We’ve made progress on several areas, including major locations, mini-locations, and a new dungeon. Yterra has now reached the finalized blockout B stage and mini-locations have undergone their next iteration with 23 caves ready for exploration.
Sandbox:
The biggest new feature here is the Character switcher – Characters in the scene can now be freely assigned to sex scenes and poses (and also removed from them again), which finally makes it very simple to use your custom characters everywhere.
Advanced bone-controller UI, allows you to more comfortably manage bone-control objects like bulk-editing, bulk-adding and baking down.

Important information: Part of the graphical optimization work has been to enable a new method for shadow rendering that has improved the performance in the main game world but may negatively affect sandbox performance. Currently you can change this back using the Engine.ini file (found under C:UsersUSERAppDataLocalWildLifeCSavedConfigWindows) if you want to by adding the line r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable=0 to the file under the [/Script/Engine.RendererSettings] section (add that line if it does not exist in your file). Later we will directly implement a toggle for it in the game video settings.

This tool allows you to convert any regular character pose to a full body controllable setup where you can manipulate arms, legs, fingers, toes, torso, head and extras individually using control objects spawned at the respective locations. After some intense bug-fixing this week we are now almost ready to release the last version of 2022. We fixed many crashes, the animation desyncing, a performance issue due to memory management, sandbox gizmo, and many other smaller things. Overall we have made massive improvements on the stability compared to the testing version from last week. Sadly there are still several issues that will require more time to fix, jittery physics are still there, as well as generally weaker performance, and the lighting and materials are still work in progress. But rest assured, things will get better in the coming year 🙂

It is time! We are very excited to announce that the new $25 build is almost ready to be released. Since this is the first version using the new Unreal Engine 5.1 there are still plenty of issues in pretty much all areas of the game. Lighting will be different, performance will probably be worse in many cases and there may be several other random things not working or even crashing so we advise to keep the last version you have around. If you encounter any problem please don’t hesitate to contact us on Discord or via email. This is all still very much work in progress and it may require a few more releases until we can consider the move complete.
We recommend that you update your OS and graphics drivers as we use the latest SDK’s and API’s with this new version.
Attention!: The launcher has been updated, if you are using the launcher we recommend you to download the new version here (it will be provided in the build release post and on our discord too).

As the Fisher Village with its demo quest line was getting in the way of the game’s development we decided to remove it. We stripped the Old Wild Life level of all assets as well, as there were many legacy assets that bloated the project.
If you have sandbox scenes that were made in the Fisher Village level, you can still open them by moving the respective files into a different level folder (e.g. from “%localappdata%/WildLifeC/Saved/SandboxSaveGames/MySaves/FisherVillage/” to “%localappdata%/WildLifeC/Saved/SandboxSaveGames/MySaves/Showroom/”).
Sandbox scenes that were made in the Old Wild Life level might need adjustments.

It has come to our attention that there is a problem with the rotation and scaling of image and media player props when opening older sandbox scene files. In order to keep your scenes intact we released a patch build to resolve this issue.
If you have encountered any image or media player prop with incorrect rotation or scale in the 2022.08.19 builds, you have two options:
1. Replace with backup file (you will lose any changes made in the 2022.08.19 builds)
Overwrite the respective scene files with their backup before opening the patch build.
The scene files can be found in “%localappdata%/WildLifeC/Saved/SandboxSaveGames/MySaves/”.
The backup files have the “.old” file extension.
2. Keep your current version (you will need to fix the incorrect rotation and scale manually)

TL;DR if you get ‘xinput1_4.dll‘ error, make a copy of ‘xinput1_3.dll‘ in ‘C:WindowsSystem32‘ and rename it to ‘xinput1_4.dll‘.
And if you don’t want to put that ‘xinput1_4.dll‘ in your system32 folder, you can put it next to ‘WildLifeC.exe‘ or ‘WildLifeC-Win64-Shipping.exe‘ instead.

The year is almost over and Christmas is about to happen. And so the Wild Life team has prepared a little present for you 🙂 We hope that you’ll enjoy this brief exploration into the world of VR with two of your already known Wild Life characters AND a newly inctroduced character: The beatiful and mysterious bounty hunter Aoi.
A quick explanation of the setup: You start on a little area under a purple evening sky, a desk with christmas decorations is to your right, with a menu board for some settings, and a huge present is in front of you. You can use your motion controllers to open the “wrap” manually, or press the button on the menu, that will uncover the present. We really hope you enjoy this humble gift and let us know if you are interested in us diving deeper and making more development in the field of VR.

Everyone Christmas Build
We have read all your comments and we are very sorry to have disappointed so many of you, that was definitely not our intention.
So we have been thinking about how we can make something for everyone.
We decided to release/prepare another presentation build on christmas eve of our new character “Aoi”. It is a very simple build but very similar to the VR one.
This build revolves entirely around our new character, its basically a simple presentation build. And it’s for all of you, so we decided to release this build completely public and fully censor free.
We hope that this will satisfy those of you who got left behind with a bitter taste and contribute to a nice christmas time after all. Little snippet from the attached readme file to make sure most of you read it: Almost all controls are as you know them from the previous builds (as its based on that data). With only one execption: The B key now doesnt change character mesh. Instead it toggles vr mode on or off. During VR mode you can pretty much see the game through your VR headset, but have keyboard and mouse controls active as always (NO Motion Controls). Allowing you to modify camera positions with your known and hated Shift/Ctrl/Alt + Wheel or simply by adjusting your VR set (if it allows for that). If you dont have any VR thing, no problem, just do it all as normal. Even if you dont have any VR capabilities we hope youll still enjoy this hubmle build. Also, please be aware that the recent VR build was only a small gimmick/test of what we could do with the technology and how it would look like. Wild Life is not intended to be a VR game and wont be in the future!
If we continue to explore the realm of VR, it would be in a dedicated project.
