In the mall triggering the “Old Man” scene cause freeze of the game (you can meet him only after the second exam after the day 58 I think), this freeze is caused by Reipatcher, somebody with some knowledge should check it out,
to avoid the freeze you can use the v1.4 where this problem is not happenning (you can try to quick save/load to try break the rng) and then back to the v2.x or remove the reipatcher files (ReiPatcher and AutoTranslator folders) and play this fraction in jap.

Do not try to quick skip text by pressing multiple times the mouse or can cause random freeze.
The game is still the same but since the 1.4 several game mechanics have been changed, check this
