Picture this. You’re a brilliant Doctor, but your ideas have made you pretty much an outcast. Your life’s work has nearly been stolen by the one person you thought you could trust. And in a moment of anger, you end up using your device on that person, only for things to go sideways and ending up frying her brain a little. Upside is, rather than killing her, you’ve just turned her into your own personal slut.

So, maybe you should have stopped there, eased off the gas a little before you changed town and set up a fake therapy office to further test the device. Then again, with everything going your way so far, and a city full of test subjects just waiting to be met…why hit the breaks?

– Around 17 new scenes

– Around 60 new or updated renders by Fiddlestick

– Alex’s entire stage 4! This includes over a dozen new scenes, about half of them with one or more render. 3 of those scenes are found in locations in town rather than in your office, and only one can be fully unlocked per path. This completes Alex training and transformation, but is not the end of her presence in the game.

– A slight rework of the training system in town. Instead of only being able to train a stat up to level 2 in town, you can now gain a maximum of 20xp. The end result is the same as originally intended, but it prevents some exploits and weird interactions.

– A rework of Tara’s introduction, with a new render and a slightly different storyline. The intro consists of 2 scenes, available when Alex is Stage 2 or higher.

– New portraits for Alex stage 1 and 2 by Fiddlesticks

– A change to the sidebar. The Case Files, Examine Yourself and Calendar will now only be accessible when not doing anything : i.e. in a location menu rather than during a story scene. This was made to prevent a number of bugs and exploit that caused people to skip scenes by overtriggering variables. It’s a bit of a brute force solution, but it does make narrative sense

Known issue:A few typos and missing words have been spotted by Discord members. I’ll wait a week or two and see if any other come up before posting a hotfix.

– A completely rewritten intro by myself and Fiddlesticks in order to tighten it a bit and fix a few minor plot holes that bugged me.

– The player stat system has been heavily tweaked. Training a skill in town will no longer allow you to get a skill higher than +2. In exchange, sessions with Alex now also improve your stats when appropriate. As a consequence, starting choice of stat focus now only gets you a +1 bonus to the chosen stat instead of +2. and the “lower the power” option has been removed.

– The “Freelance work” activity has been replaced by the “Schedule an extra client” activity. Right now there 6 random blurbs for this activity. More will be added in subsequent releases.

– Some sessions will now raise Alex skills by more than 1 point, to signify more important events.

– Reinstated Alex’s Wednesday session in stage 2. Tweaked her emails in consequence.

– Added a Calendar page, accessible from the sidebar. This will let you know where Alex (and eventually, other characters) is on any given day, as long as you have unlocked the info in story.

– Updated some of Spi’s art with Fiddlesticks’.

– Bug reported by ding dong above has been fixed.

Known issue: If you are in the middle of a training session and you click on a sidebar links (case files/calendar/examine yourself), then come back, you can screw up the variables and cause the game to glitch. I know how to fix that, but it is going to take me a bit of time, so it will be fixed in v0.3. In the meantime, just refrain from using sidebar links while in a scene – just wait for when you are in a free-roam location instead.

3 new scenes for Liz/Buffy – each path has its own version of each scene.

Around 16 new scenes for Alex, most of which have three variations based on the path you take.

More than 60 new renders, from Spi and Mysterious Stranger

1 new location tied to both Alex’s and Liz/Buffy’s story

Various quality of life improvements: shortcut links to reduce extraneous clicking, color-coded choices to indicate which of your stats it relates to, typo fixes, removal of stamina training (stamina will now increase at specific moments in the storyline), removal of specific time frame and failure possibility when training Alex, etc.

Slightly modified game guide and opening page.

Various narrative adjustment, such as renaming some of Alex’s stats or clearing up some bits that were unclear (more of this to come in v.0.3)

Developer Notes:

It’s finally done! I’m really excited by this one since it feels like the game is reaching the end of its “learning” phase. We’ve certainly have learned a lot about how much work goes into every type of task/scene, so from now on updates should be better structured – they’ll be much shorter, but also release much faster. Our hope is that v0.4 will be ready in two months or so. But we make no promise. For now, enjoy the update!

Note that while v0.2.5 saves migh be functionnal on the surface, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you start a new game, as using old saves might cause issues from previous build to remain unfixed and screw up the new content.
