1. Extract the new version’s archive
2. Copy [ICODE]assets/settings.cfg[/ICODE] from your old install folder to your new one.
If you don’t do this, your ingame settings will be reset to default (and all volume sliders will be zeroed).
No action is needed for save files, as they are not stored in the game’s install folder.
Alternatively, you can extract the new archive directly into your previous game’s install folder, overwriting any files in the process.

I double click on the exe, but nothing happens.
- Make sure you extract the game archive before running.
- Make sure the game has permission to create files on your disk.
- This could be related to AMD hardware. Lautheron got it to launch by disabling AMD Radeon Graphics (APU), running the game, and then re-enabling CPU graphics.
The game is crashing.
- Some hardware setups are sporadically crashing, seemingly due to GPU/rendering errors. I intend to do work under the hood to try to automatically recovery from these errors. In the meantime, I’ve manually patched the engine in an attempt to reduce incidents. This patch will be out with version [F3-A].
- If you have a very low framerate (under 10 FPS), your PC may not be powerful enough to run the game.

Upon crashing or closing, MGTO collects gameplay data (e.g. crash information, how often players die in each battle, which characters are deployed in each mission, what settings have their default values changed).
Zero personal data (as defined by the GDPR) is collected, ONLY gameplay data.
The player name that you input during the prologue is explicitly excluded (i.e. it is NOT collected, to respect privacy).
All gameplay data is end-to-end encrypted.
If you don’t want this, just disable internet connectivity in your sandbox environment, firewall, or PC while playing. The game will function without issue.
(But I’d appreciate if you leave it on. I’ll use the stats for balancing, bugfixing, and general tuning.)
