Waifu Engine is an Artificial Intelligence virtual anime waifu companion who hangs out on your desktop and works fully offline. There’s free form conversation (now via text, offline voice recognition will be added soon) using a GPT2-based AI model that runs locally on your PC with real time offline speech synthesis using a voice model we have trained ourselves from scratch (and which does not sound soulless like MS Cortana), lots of body customization options, emotion sliders, animations and frame-wise pose selector, and most importantly a highly flexible plugin framework that we are building to make modding and extending this as a virtual assistant platform very convenient for the community. Oh, and everything is uncensored.

We highly recommend that you use the Itch.io client to download and install our game simply because it will let you update the game more easily by downloading only the necessary changed files when we push updates, which will be very frequently. You wouldn’t want to waste all your precious bandwidth downloading the whole huge file again, right? And don’t worry, it’s out there for free. :giggle:

Yes, yes, there’s a lot of stuff we want to tell you. First of all, please remember that this is a (very) early alpha, so a number of things will be a bit scuffed, but we want to improve with time with everyone’s support. Our idea essentially is to create a plugin platform for digital assistants that will let you extend the whole engine with your own plugins and scripts via an intuitive API without you having to worry about the core engine functionality in the backend.

Secondly, we barely have any visual content yet, but we will soon make it possible to import any animation that is supported with the standard Unity humanoid model, and be able to use it in-app. More clothes and accessories will be added soon and what we currently have is just a proof-of-concept. Anyways, right now, we have:

AI free form dialogue engine with contextual memory (which we will improve with every version since that is our primary focus)
Real-time offline speech synthesis (speech recognition will be added soon)
A “say” function which lets you make her say anything you want (just type “say: “ followed by the line in “Talk To Waifu” menu)
Emotion sliders which we will plugin into an emotion engine for seamless integration with the AI dialogue engine
Customisable 3D model with a fairly large number of body sliders
Decent selection of outfits, which are all in parts, so you can mix and match as well as partially and fully undress her
Animation player with frame-by-frame pose selector (will add ability to import animations) and integration of animations into the AI engine
There’s a windowed mode under Settings, but it is kinda scuffed currently.

Everything runs offline and locally on your system. We do not collect any data about your conversation with your AI waifu.

A note about system requirements: Since this whole thing runs offline as we mentioned above, you will need at least 8 GB of RAM, a decent processor and a mediocre GPU to be able to run it. Please do not waste your time and bandwidth downloading it otherwise.
