I have also had to revise my backups system which had been broken by a Windows update and do a fair bit of testing of the build just to be sure it’s working.

    • Added a large batch of new voice acting (23 lines for now; more will be added in future) from a mysterious new character throughout the game, as well as special changes to the intro to go along with it. These unlock only after you have seen Shizu’s ending.

      – Added a new reply to the doctor at the hospital for a faster exit if you’ve already seen the Emi, Nobuko and Shizu endings.
      – Added some panning shots across the city as it’s introduced to accentuate the descriptions.
      – Tweaked the art for the apartment hallway when Shuji tries the key.
      – Shortened many sections upon replay, including skipping most of the introduction to the apartment, as well as chunks of many of the introductory scenes.
      – Changed Nobuko’s “eyes up here” animation to a slightly tweaked one to fix her disappearing shirt button. (Thanks to patron Wild Bill for the fix!)

    • Made significant revisions to the introductory sequence (up to the credits sequence, then also including the interactive Shizu sex scene in the credits sequence). These revisions include a range of improvements:
      – Almost all the images (and animations!) have been re-rendered with tweaks like improved lighting, depth of field, framing to focus on characters better, and bolder colours and contrasts.
      – New images have been added for several moments, including close-ups and flashbacks.
      – Some new variations to the text and interactions will unlock depending on which endings you have seen, so the scene will be subtly different on replay. Some of these variations are still locked until the Shizu ending becomes available, preparing the game for that addition soon.
    • Added 3 new phone messages in the shops district:
      – 2 messages from Shizu that require you to have had sex with her. These have 2 images each, for a total of 4.
      – 1 message from Emi that requires you to have had sex with her. This has 2 images.

For the shops area messages things work differently; each message is unlocked individually and you access them by selecting the menu option and viewing all you have unlocked.
    • You can now purchase the (butt) plug from the shop in Newtown!
    • Added a short new Shizu plug scene! This is accessible from her conversation menu after romancing her and buying the plug, and features an interactive screen with:

    – I have, however, set it up so that it should unlock some of the content based on some logical milestones: if you’ve seen Emi’s or Nobuko’s endings, or in Shizu’s case her sex scene.
    – Currently the gallery doesn’t include all the content in the game; it mostly focuses on larger scenes that require a separate loading screen from the apartment. Let me know if you’re still seeing this bug or if it seems to be fixed now!

    Major bug fix! The issue that was causing left over background images to stay on the foreground of scenes and break the game after loading saved games is now corrected. This was an engine bug created by the developers of VNM, but they have now made a script to repair that problem and I’ve implemented it in the game. Now new saves should not create the problem and if you have old saves that have the issue, just move to a new room in the apartment and that will fix it.
    Reverted some changes made in v0.16 that made loading screens shorter but more frequent. Now the loading screens should be more like they were before – a little longer but much less frequent than in v0.18. On extended testing players were not experiencing performance or loading speed improvements enough to justify all the extra loads and the disruption of the flow of the game.
    There’s a new “victory suite bonus gallery” accessible by clicking on the face of the lady on the menu screen, which allows you to choose between any bonus scenes you’ve unlocked.
    Fixed some bugs that had emerged in the title sequence, including one that was making the screen stick on the Shizu interactive section, as well as making the dialogue display incorrectly during the credits.

    In a failed attempt to fix the loading crash that some players get, 2095Conash and I have made a change to the apartment scene that should make it load a little faster (maybe cut it by a third) and reduce the memory demands of the game a bit.
    Please note that your old saves will likely not work properly any more. This was an unfortunate but inevitable result of the bug fix attempts.
    New changes to the skip system:
    – The game will now track whether you’ve seen a plot scene and only skip it if you haven’t.
    – NOTE: Because it wasn’t tracking it before, it won’t know if you’ve seen any of the plot scenes before this version, so it won’t skip the scenes yet, but it will in the fututre!
    – You can now switch between skipping scenes or not by pressing the “Toggle scene skip” button on the stats screen.
    Some scenes have been restructured a little bit underneath the hood, to speed up the loading time of the apartment a bit and help make it more stable. (Although it will still be the longest load in the game.)
    Listed all collector cards in the “main game” chapter to make them easier to search through in the gallery.

      **GAMEPLAY AND TECHNICAL CHANGES**
    – Huge progress on the main gameplay! It is now possible to play past day 1 and take Emi, Nobuko and Shizu on dates to earn chats and unlock flashbacks. Only Emi has actual content to unlock right now, but the core gameplay is now functional.
    – From day 2 dates with the (first) three ladies are available from within the apartment, allowing you to take them in the daytime to a cafe, spa or museum, and then from day 5 you can take them on evening dates to a restaurant, a casino or a sky bar. Daytime dates build “love” and evening dates build “lust”, but all dates cost money.
    – Flashbacks can be viewed now by going to the subway (available from the evening of day 2) and selecting any that are unlocked from the metro map.
    – You can sleep to move on to the next day; characters waking you up in the morning is not yet implemented, but will be in the future.
    – The girls will grow jealous over time, unless you date them. They’ll get into arguments with each other if their jealousy gets too high, wasting time. Make sure to balance this and watch out for warnings that one of them is getting very jealous.
    – There is a random daily music playlist in the apartment.
    – The game now has a stats screen. You can access it from the message box or the corner menu when the message box isn’t available. This replaces the “auto” button, but you can still enter auto mode through the menu screen.
    – Extensive optimisation since the last update should make the game faster to load and lower the file size consumption from resources already in the game.
    – Restructured some of the early game, which I think has fixed the problem with saved games once and for all.
    – Casino dates give random results. You’ve even got a chance to win big!
    – Updated the credits.
    – Added a nicer transition in Emi’s fashion show memory.
    – Changed the “End memory” hotspot in the Emi/Kumi scene.
      **CONTENT CHANGES**
    – Large new plot scenes for days 2 and 3, featuring images, voice acting and animations and continuing the story! What happened after that night in the alley?
    – A new collector card, and a new Easter egg to find!
    – Some of the daily conversation system with the characters in the apartment has been implemented; primarily Emi at this point, although more is still to come for her, too. (Some voice acting is included!)

    • Saves from previous versions may not load or may cause bugs. I try to make them as compatible as possible, but this game is all a work in progress and so sometimes old saves may not work right.
    • On Mac if you get an error that says, “The program “Game” cannot be opened” that is likely something to do with OSX’s unzip features changing permissions. Try unzipping it with a different utility, as that has worked for other people with the error.
    • If you are running the web browser version and get only a black screen when trying to run it, make sure to turn off all your script blocking in the browser as this will prevent it from running properly.

    Entering the codes: Go to the entrance room of the apartment (this will only work once you can start navigating around the apartment with the mini-map) and click on the closet that opens a little when you hover over it. A box will pop up and you’ll need to click on the letters to enter them.
